Retirement horse boarding

Thank you for visiting my webpage. My name is Marion Huurman-de Roos and I am co-founder of the Hidden Cave Ranch and Hidden Cave Curly Horses.

After having build a very successful breeding program of American Bashkir Curly Horses things started to shift in my head.

Everytime a foal is born it’s a beautiful blessing and I’m always happy if eveything went well. However I did got more stressed as the years went by. Not only during foaling time, but the weaning and finding good homes for these precious foals got harder for me. My mares where getting older and I started to think, what happends to these broodmares in general? I also have dealt with several cases of neglect, abandonden and sick horses. After being contacted by the county if I could take in and rehab a severe starvation case I made up my mind. I am not going to breed anymore but focus on the old horses. The horses who spend their lives teaching kids how to ride, been a good producing mare, have been the best competition horse,  or that horse that has been in the family forever and now needs to retire. Horses that are still full of live but have to be retired due to injury, sickness or just old age. What is there out there for owners to give these horses some great golden years. There are several retirement boarding faciities, but I found out most are full or have a waiting list.

And so,

Hidden Cave Horse Retirement and Hidden Cave Healing Hooves were born.

Over the years I have studied and received several certifications and degrees in Homeopathy, Neuropathic Medicine, and Holistic Veterinary Medicine. In my home country, The Netherlands, I had my own practice where I helped many horses, dogs and their owners.
